Express-News, San Antonio, TX - 13 Jun 1991 Dr. James Lewis Pipkin died Tuesday June 11, 1991. A graduate of U.T. Medical Branch at Galveston in 1926. His graduate training in dermatology was in New York. He began his practice in San Antonio. His practice in San Antonio spanned 65 years and he also authored various papers and taught many classes in his specialty. Dr. Pipkin was active in his practice until his death. He was devoted to his family. His hobby was fly fishing. He was a member of many medical associations, Rotary and Laurel Heights Methodist Church. Survivors: wife, Patricia Solbeck Pipkin; son, Dr. James Lewis Pipkin Jr.; daughter, Patricia Pipkin Douglas; grandchildren: James Lewis Pipkin III, Dr. Alan Scott Douglas, John David Douglas, Jamie Dawn Douglas, Robert Bruce Douglas, Patricia Avis Douglas, Lewis Andrew Douglas; great grandchildren: Lauren Michelle Pipkin, Lewis Sherman and Jessie Ruth Sherman; sister: Mary Helen Moore. He was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio, TX. At one time he was a member of PFA. He was son of Dr. George Pierce and Ruth Moody Pipkin and grandson of Dr. James Andrew Pipkin.
