Miss Sallie Duncan Miss Sallie Duncan, retired Dean of Women Emeritus and head of the English Department at East Texas Baptist College at Marshall, died Thursday afternoon at a Sherman nursing home. Funeral services will e held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gonzales, TX, at the Seydler Funeral Home, Daniel and Son Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Miss Duncan, 91, was born in Coldwater, MS, April 27, 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Duncan. She graduated from Sam Houston State College at Huntsville and taught several years at Baylor University. She later moved to Marshall where she became head of the English Department at East Texas Baptist College. She also served as Dean of Women. In 1942, she retired from her duties at East Texas Baptist and was named Dean Ermitus of the College. Survivors include one brother, Horace M. Duncan of Gonzales; one sister, Miss Clyde Duncan of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews, including Miss Myrtle Peacock and Edgar Peacock, both of Sherman, Duncan Peacock of Dallas, and Grace Arterberry of Savoy. 1968 William Philip Pipkin [Note - the Pipkin connection is not shown]
