This column is about the life and recent funeral of Emmie Pipkin
Vick, the mother-in-law of the writer, Leon Hale.

Emmie Wright Pipkin was born in Fort Deposit, Lowndes County,
Alabama on 29 Oct 1888, the daughter of Rev. James Jefferson and 
Sarah Rebecca Brooks Pipikin. Emmie married Clarence Covington 
Vick in Bryan, TX. She was 97 years old when she died.
