Eugene H. Read, PFA member since 1972
Eugene H. Read, age 75, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Pikes Peak Hospice after suffering with COPD for nearly 14 years. Gene was born in Roswell, NM, where he graduated high school in 1947 [in Carlsbad, NM]. Obituary
Shorly thereafter, he joined the Army Air Corp. He retired as a SMsgt in the Air Force after 21 years of service. His last assignment was in Colorado Springs at ENT AFB as part of NORAD. Gene then worked as a civil servant in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex for NORAD, at several federal defense posts and with Space Command as a computer program analyst and systems software specialist. He retired from civil service on December 31, 1988.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Hettie Belle, as well as his sisters, Mary Read, Dorothy Ryder and Francis Brown, and his daughter, Peggy Read.
Gene is survived by Georgie, his wife of 41 years; his daughter, Theresa Wussick, her husband William and their children: Jullian Wussick and Trista (Joseph) Lemoine; his son, Daniel and his children: Heaven and Zavrielle; his son David; and his brothers, John and Wayne.
Gene was a very generous, giving person, and a loving father and husband. He was also devoted to his Catholic faith. He touched the lives of many and will truly be missed.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the men and women of Pikes Peak Hospice, and his doctor, Stephen Telatnik, MD, for their exceptional care and attention during the last months of his life.
