Kansas City Times, KC, MO Saturday 6 Feb 1988, pg D-7 Gus Pipkin, Sr. Gus Pipkin, Sr., 87, Raytown, died Feb. 4, 1988 at the Lee's Summitt Community Hospital. He was born in Houston, MO, and lived in this area for 50 years. Mr. Pipkin was an installer for the Advance Awning and Iron Works, Inc. for 25 years and retired in 1970. After he retired he was a school-crossing guard for Blue Ridge Elementary School, Raytown for 17 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He was president of the Missouri Round Dance Association and was an instructor and director for the Rondeliers Dance Club. Survivors include his wife, Sally Pipkin of the home; a son Gus Pipkin, Jr., Los Angeles; a daughter Ruby Vaughan, Eldon, MO; two step-daughters, Corrine Mathison, Kansas City, and Bonnie Sneeden, Raytown; a sister, Grace McMillin, Kansas City; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Services, at Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel, burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Gustavis Adolphus Pipkin was born 31 Oct 1900 to William Henry and Fannie Smith Pipkin.
