Olkahoma City newspaper, July 11 or 12, 1980 Harwood, Katherene Pipkin, 77, passed away at Hillcrest Hospital after a short illness on July the 10th. She was born September 21, 1902 in Weatherford, Texas, daughter of Walter Lee and Kittie Ann Elizabeth Sligar Pipkin. She was a retired poet and sales person for TG&Y and John A. Brown. She had lived in Wichita, KS before coming to Oklahoma City in 1939 and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a Charter member of Senior Companions Program and also Past Chairperson of Shartel Towers. She formerly taught school at Rush Springs, OK and was a graduate of Central State University. She is survived by a son, Bill Harwood, OK City; 2 daughters, Jo Ann Phenis of Cedar Lake, Hinton, OK, Katherene "Bunny" Peoples of OK City; 2 brothers, M.L. Pipkin of OK City, Jack V. Pipkin of Los Angeles, CA; 4 sisters, Lucile Laws of OK City, Opal McCaskey of Los Angeles, CA, Virginia Staley of Enid, OK, Wilma Morris of San Antonio, TX; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church. Interment at Resthaven Memeory Gardens - directed by Vondel L. Smith & Sons, mortuary.
