Pipkin, 71, a retired Texaco official who worked in the company's executive offices for more than 15 years died of cancer Friday (9 Feb) at his Washington home. He was named executive vice president in 1962 and elected to Texaco's Bar Association, the American Petroleum Institute, the Metropolitan Club of Washington and Burning Tree Country Club. Mr. Pipkin was a board member of Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church and had been an elder of the Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Zenda Lewis, of the home, two sons: James H., Jr. and Richard L. both of Washington; a brother Charles S. of Beaumont; and three sisters, Louise Coke, Mrs. C.C. Vick and Mrs. A.S. McSwain all of Bryan Texas. James Harold Pipkin, son of Rev. James Jefferson Pipkin and Rebecca Brooks was born 29 Mar 1907 in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas. He married Zenda Marie Lewis on 25 Nov 1932. He was reared in Bryan, Texas; was a graduate of Texas A & M; and had a law degree from the University of Texas. He practiced law in Beaumont prior to joining Texaco. His nephew Angus S. McSwain, Jr. is a member of the Pipkin Family Association. Our condolences to the family. William Philip Pipkin.
