Mount Olive - Funeral services for Luther Daniel Pipkin, 76, retired farmer, who died Saturday, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Tyndal Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack Burnett. Burial, Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving: his wife, Mrs. Elsie Brock Pipkin of Mt. Olive; two sons, Daniel Kelso of Mt. Olive and Marshall W. Pipkin of Temple, Tex; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Barry of Lawton, Okla; two sisters, Mrs. Ida E. Morgan of Fayetteville and Miss Mary C. Pipkin of Goldsboro; five grandchildren; three g-grandchildren. 1972



Marshall W. Pipkin, son of Daniel & Nettie Anderson Pipkin, Wayne Co, NC

TEMPLE — Services for retired Master Sgt. Marshall Pipkin Sr., 83, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel in Temple with the Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Pipkin died April 13, 2005, at a Temple nursing home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Wayne County, N.C., the son of the late Luther Daniel and Nettie Anderson Pipkin.

Pipkin married the former Elsie Marie Hankey Jan. 4, 1946. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1994.

He had served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from Oct. 10, 1942, through Nov. 25, 1952, as an administrative officer.

Pipkin had worked for 33 years at the Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Center in Temple.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Pipkin had lived in Temple since 1953 and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church there.

Survivors include a son, Marshall W. Pipkin Jr. of Killeen; and a daughter, Theresa B. Ferrell of Killeen.

A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will then receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m.
