This Indenture made this 23’d day of November Anno Dom 1786 between Phillip
Pipkin of the State of North Carolina and County of Pitt of the one part and
Titus Car of the State of North Carolina and County of Dobbs of the other part –
Witnesseth that I the said Phillip Pipkin for & in consideration of the sum of
twenty five pounds to me in hand paid by Titus Car before the assigning and
sealing of these presents have bargained and sold and by these presents doth
bargain and sell unto the said Titus Car his heirs and assigns forever a certain
tract or parcel of land containing thirty acres be the same more or less situate
in Pitt County and in the fork of the Little Contentnea Creek & Sandy Run it
being a part of a tract of land granted unto Phillip Pipkin bearing date first
day of July 1779 beginning at a red oak by the side of the Sandy Run then north
80 poles with Daniel Pipkin’s line to a stake then east 60 poles to a stake then
south 30 west 37 poles to a pine in a branch then with the run of said branch to
Pipkin’s west line then west to the first station, together with all woods,
waters, minds, minerals, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land
belonging or in any wise appertaining to hold to the Titus Car his heirs and
assigns forever against the lawful claim of all and every person and persons
whatever – In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal.
